How the score works

How the 0 to 100 automated score is calculated, and why it is not a measure of full conformance.

The score is based only on issues software can detect. It helps you see progress over time; it is not a measure of full WCAG conformance.

Per page

Each page starts at 100. For every rule that fails, points are taken off according to its most severe impact on that page, and a little more for each additional element (growing slowly, so 50 identical problems do not count 50 times):

SeverityWeight
Critical10
Serious6
Moderate3
Minor1
page score = 100 − min(100, Σ weight × log2(1 + elements))

Per site

The site score is the average of the page scores, with the home page counting three times and pages linked from it twice, because more visitors see them.

Best-practice suggestions, issues you mark as won't fix or false positive, and findings hidden by ignore rules do not count. PDF findings are listed separately and do not count either.
