3 PDF documents have no document language. Screen readers may read the text with the wrong pronunciation.

  • Screen reader users
  • People with cognitive disabilities

Standards

How to fix it

  1. Set the language in the source file (Word: Review → Language; Google Docs: File → Language) before exporting.
  2. Or set it in Acrobat under File → Properties → Advanced → Reading Options → Language.
  3. Replace the file on your site.

On Elementor

Fix the PDF in the program it was made with (Word, Google Docs, InDesign): turn on the accessibility options when exporting ("Tagged PDF" / "Create accessible PDF"), set the document title and language in the file properties, then export again. Replace the file in the Media Library; buttons and links that point to it keep working when the file name stays the same.
